30th Annual Helping Hands Award Dinner Photo Gallery

On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, Center for Hospice Care recognized Bob Deputy as the recipient of the 30th Annual Helping Hands Award. Over 450 people gathered at the Gillespie Center at the Hilton Garden Inn to pay tribute to Bob and his many contributions to our community.

Bob Deputy's community spirit is legendary. He has been involved in numerous initiatives to make Northern Indiana – particularly Elkhart County – a better place to live and work. In recent years, he was very involved in making the IU South Bend Elkhart Campus and the Lerner Theatre renovation possible. In addition, he was on the board of directors of Elkhart General Hospital as well as a member of the Association for the Disabled of Elkhart County (ADEC). He has also been involved with United Way and the Elkhart County Community Foundation.

During his 40-year tenure as CEO of the family-owned Godfrey Marine, Bob helped bring hundreds of jobs to Elkhart County. After his retirement, he devoted his expertise in business and fundraising to good causes throughout the area.

His dedication to IU and to promoting an IU education is noteworthy. He worked with IU officials and the Indiana Higher Education Commission to bring MBA and advanced degree courses to IU South Bend's Elkhart Campus. He is chairman of the IU South Bend Chancellor's Advisory Board and involved with numerous IU organizations. He received the IU Alumni Association President's Award in 2006 and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Indiana University in 2008.

Bob is truly one of our community's true assets. Thank you to everybody that joined us for the celebration of his many years of service. Thank you to Bob for everything you do to make the quality of living in Northern Indiana better. And thank you to everyone that made the evening possible, including our Dinner Committee members and our Sponsors.
