As summer winds down, there are two certainties: the kids will be going back to school soon, and it's almost time for fall’s must-do ride, Bike Michiana for Hospice!
The 9th Annual event will take place on Sunday, September 17, and is once again centered at St. Patrick’s Park in South Bend. More than 1,000 riders are expected to hit the roads on one of six different courses, ranging from the 3.5-11-mile family route (you choose how much of it you want to ride) all the way up to the 100-mile route that will take you all the way to Weko Beach along the shores of Lake Michigan and back. Last year’s newly introduced 82-mile “Foodie Route” was tremendously popular and returns as well!
This ride has built a reputation for providing participants with the best Support and Guidance Stop (SAG) food of any ride in the Midwest. Participants at the 2017 event will once again enjoy delicious food from some of the area’s best restaurants, both along the routes and at the post-ride party back at St. Pat’s. “Ride, Eat, Repeat” will once again be the theme of the event. Restaurants participating this year include holdovers Yesterday's (St. Pat's Park), Tapastrie (Free Run Cellars), Moser's Austrian Café (New Carlisle) and LaSalle Kitchen & Tavern (Pinhook). New to this year's ride will be Uptown Kitchen (Elbel) and Froehlichs (Weko Beach).
Bike Michiana for Hospice benefits two local nonprofit organizations, Center for Hospice Care (CHC) and the Bike Michiana Coalition. Both organizations are committed to improving the quality of living in our community. The two organizations evenly divide registration and sponsorship proceeds, while all fundraising benefits CHC. Registration is $50 until August 15. Late registration runs from August 16 until September 15 and is $60. Day of registration is available at St. Pat's Park on September 17 for $65.
